Offboarding a team member
When a direct report leaves your team — whether they move to another manager, change roles, or leave the organization — you can offboard them in Mora. Offboarding stops new meetings from being scheduled while preserving all historical data exactly as it is.
What offboarding does
When you offboard a direct report:
- Their status changes to Offboarded
- They are removed from the active roster on your My Team page
- No new 1:1 meetings can be scheduled with them
- All historical data is fully preserved: meetings, notes, action items, goals, topics, feedback, and relationship profiles
Offboarding is not deletion. Everything you built together stays in Mora as a complete record.
How to offboard someone
- Go to My Team and open the direct report’s profile
- Look for the Offboard option in their profile (usually in the actions menu or a dedicated section)
- Confirm the action when prompted
The offboard action takes effect immediately. The team member is removed from your active team list.
Viewing offboarded team members
Offboarded direct reports don’t appear on the main My Team page by default, but you can access their full profile by filtering your team list to include offboarded members. All their meetings, notes, and reports are still accessible.
This is particularly useful if you need to reference past 1:1 notes during a transition, generate a final merit report, or revisit what was committed to before they left.
Generating a final merit report
Before or after offboarding, you can generate a merit report for the full duration of your working relationship. This is useful for:
- Writing a final performance review or feedback summary
- Providing a reference or recommendation with specific details
- Your own records of the relationship
Frequently asked questions
Can I undo an offboard? Offboarding is designed to be a deliberate action. If someone was offboarded in error or returns to your team, contact support to discuss options for reactivating their record.
Does offboarding affect my billing? Active seat counts are based on your active direct reports. Offboarded team members do not count toward your seat usage. Billing updates at the next cycle after the offboard.
What if they rejoin the company with a new manager? Their record in Mora remains attached to your account. If they join under a different manager, that manager would add them as a new direct report in their own account.
